There’s been a CD sitting on my desk for a year or so full of IDs that Scott Fybush captured when he and Garrett Wollman took a trip through a wide portion of the US in June of 1991. (Check out Scott’s recaps.) Today, we start digging into them with some new stuff from Cleveland and Ft. Wayne.
This week, more audio from my Illinois swing last November. This week, it’s Bloomington.
What prompted the Illinois swing was a radio geek whirlwind tour of Chicago, including several transmitter tours and a pretty cool visit to the swank new Clear Channel/Chicago facility. (It’s also where Scott Fybush got to do something the rest of us haven’t quite been able to forgive him for. ) One of our fellow geekers on the tour, Mike Ward, has presented us with some new audio from Cleveland, and that’s part of the new stuff today also.
I’ve been holding out on sharing some of what’s coming in the future for Tophour, but I feel compelled, if not forced (hang on for why) to spill a few of the beans here. There is a new Tophour in the works for 2005. It’s not merely the redesign that I’ve hinted about (and that seems to be an annual event) but some pretty substantial changes in the way the site is run.
Last November, I did an ID run through the state of Illinois on my way to a radio geek outing in Chicago. One of the stops on that tour was the state capital of Springfield, and that’s the newness for today.
I’m breaking out more new ID audio from my Illinois swing last November. Welcome to Decatur, population nine IDs. (There’d be 11, but not all the stations did IDs, including a certain three letter call AM that I was disappointed to miss. </gi-normous_geek>)
It’s been a long while since I’ve anted up any of my own ID audio for this here site, and so I’m back in the game for myself. It’s new audio from Indianapolis from April of this year.
