As a radio blogger friend of mine is so fond of saying when he’s on hiatus from his site, “Life intervenes.” And indeed, life has been busily intervening here at Toppy HQ for the last couple of months. (Hint: if you ever find yourself at the helm of Toppy and you’re married, be sure your spouse has really good health insurance. I’m not saying the post of “Mrs. Toppy” is cursed, health-wise, or anything…but I know two holders of that title who might disagree.)
The good news is, the current Mrs. Toppy is on the mend, and thankfully, so is her predecessor. So there’s that.
And in the midst of all that life doing its intervening, somehow we’ve still had the chance to snag a few IDs here in there, even if some of them were recorded en route to an out-of-town funeral.
So this week, we kick things off with another stab at that rare New York City ID, 1010 WINS running its programming on sister station WXRK 92.3 during Superstorm Sandy. There’s one new ID from just north of Syracuse, where WOSW 1300 Fulton is now doing classic country. And on the way to that funeral in DC a couple of weeks ago, we passed through the Williamsport and Harrisburg markets and freshened up a few of those IDs along the way.
Can we have a nice boring rest of 2012, with plenty of time to get back to pulling IDs from our many gigabytes of backlog and posting them here for you? (And shipping out Tower Site Calendars, now available at the Fybush.com Store?) Here’s hoping…
(Oh, and BIG thanks to Lou and Bill and Lance for keeping the ID fires burning here in my inadvertent absence!)
