Ever had one of those markets that you just keep driving through quickly without ever stopping long enough to get a full set of IDs? For me, that area off I-80 between Chicago and the Quad Cities – we’ll call it “La Salle” for Toppy-market purposes – is like that. I’ve been through there several times, but always in a hurry to get somewhere else, so there’s rarely time for more than a quick stop for gas or drive-thru fast food and a few quickie IDs. So this week, you get to hear about half of the market, taped on the way from Chicago to the Quad Cities at the start of the “Medium Trip” last May. There are also a couple of IDs taped toward the end of the trip, in an area I’ve spent even less time visiting – the area around Dixon and Sterling on I-88 that doesn’t really fit neatly in any market, but which we’ll call “Rockford” for Toppy purposes.
(Oh, and the Amerks? Now in the midst of a five-game losing streak, separated from the previous ten-game losing streak by just one win, the team has now landed all the way at the bottom of the AHL standings. And they came within six minutes of breaking the AHL record for the longest period of time without scoring a goal. Ack.)
